DAVID MCCAIN

David McCain is the computer forensic specialist for Applied Facts. McCain has been in law enforcement for 20 years. He has over ten years in investigations, the past eight years specifically in high tech crimes and computer forensics. He has also testified and authored search warrants and court orders in both state and federal courts. In 2000, McCain was named the “Investigator of the Year” by his agency.

McCain has performed forensics on both criminal and civil cases involving theft, theft of intellectual property, unlawful termination, sexual harassment, homicides, child exploitation, identity theft, terrorist threats, cyber stalking, Internet usage, computer intrusion and online auction fraud. He has handled a wide spectrum of cases involving a single to hundreds of computers.

McCain is a part time instructor for the California Department of Justice. He teaches law enforcement officers throughout the state in computer forensics. This allows him to hear, first hand, what investigators from the entire state are experiencing. He also is a part time instructor for U.S. Department of State teaching computer forensics and computer crime throughout the world.

McCain has received training from Guidance Software, Access Data, the California Department of Justice, the National White Collar Crime Center, the SEARCH Group (National Consortium for Justice and Statistics), the High Tech Crimes Investigators Association (HTCIA) and the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS). He has received his CFCE Certification (Computer Forensic Certified Examiner) and certified Electronic Evidence Collection Certificate from the IACIS. He is also a licensed private investigator in the State of California.

McCain is served as the President and First Vice President of the Southern California High Tech Crime Investigators Association. He also belongs to the High Tech Crimes Investigators Association (HTCIA), International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS) and Orange County Fraud Investigators Association (OCFIA).

McCain has presented on various high tech topics to numerous associations and groups. He has also been interviewed for both radio and television.
