Jim Hughes has over 14 years experience in financial analysis, auditing and forensic accounting, with a strong internal controls background. He has worked in a variety of industries including financial services, data management, government contracting, and manufacturing.

Hughes has worked on numerous investigations including forensic accounting, litigation support, damage assessments, and business intelligence. In addition to commercial clients, Hughes has worked on investigations for a variety of government agencies, including District Attorneys and school districts.

Hughes has worked on investigations including complex fraud and identity theft, potential misappropriation of company funds by an executive of a privately held company, royalty audits and a fraud investigation involving overbilling by a vendor of a large foundation in the Los Angeles area.

Hughes has an extensive financial services background, having worked for two national banks in internal audit and commercial banking. He has a specialty in Middle Market finance ($50 million to $1.5 billion companies), having worked on a major retailer’s $300 million syndicated credit facility and financing for Napa Valley wineries, among others. In addition to his work in the field of banking, Hughes has six years experience as a Finance Manager and Controller establishing and implementing controls, as well as identifying process improvements.

Hughes worked as key member of the team on financial and background investigations of potential casino owners for the California Department of Justice, Bureau of Gambling Control to determine whether the applicant is suitable to hold a state gambling license. These investigations included indentifying the source of funds, financial stability, business relationships, and accuracy of information that applicants reported to the Bureau of Gambling Control.

Hughes is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California and holds the Sarbanes-Oxley professional certification (CSOX).
